Talang Mamak
History
Talang Mamak tribe represents one of original ethnic groups of Indragiri Hulu District (formerly Indragiri District), Riau Province, Indonesia. There are two opinions regarding where Talang Mamak people came from. According to a former Indragiri Assistant Resident, they came from Pagaruyung Kingdom of West Sumatra. They moved from that region due to tradition and belief conflicts. Meanwhile, pursuant to the myth, they are the third generation of Adam?s (the first human) descendant, who came down to the earth from the heaven.
